Apex Legends, however, has a unique opportunity to make the Battle Pass even more attractive. For now, that opportunity is called Octane. Octane is rumored to be the game's Battle Pass character. We know nothing yet for certain, but a datamine and a few allegedly leaked photos have led folks to believe that Octane has a stim-shot style ability that lets him trade movement speed for his health, with another ability that lets him recover that health out of combat situations. But his rumored ultimate is the one that people are excited about, should the rumors prove true.
The best evidence for this is that Origin pushed out an ad for Season 1 on that day featuring suspected new hero Octane before quickly pulling it, which seemed to confirm a bunch of leaks and rumors that had already given us that date last week. And, dataminer Shrugtal also noted that the servers seemed to be attempting to give out Season 1 loot but couldn't do it because it wasn't in the game yet.
If you hit them while running fast, or from a greater height they also seem to launch you further into the air. While it's possible that these new bounce pads aren't actually related to the new character at all, they do seem suspiciously like the ultimate that leaked Octane. Octane's Ultimate lets them deploy jump pads on the map that launch players into the sky, according to a leaked screenshot shared on Reddit earlier this month. How they wound up on the map is a mystery, but it seems likely developer Respawn is doing a Fortnite-style tease, slowly introducing new elements into the world to create excitement.
