Path of Exile This Week Will Have to Wait a Bit Longer

19 February 2019 will have the official expansion announcement, which will launch on 08 March 2019 for PC. It will launch three days later, on 11 March 2019 for Xbox One and finally at some point in mid-March 2019 for PlayStation 4. There is still no precise date for PS4 though. Other content is in the works for release throughout the year as well. Update 3.7.0 is coming in June, followed by update 3.8.0 in September, and update 3.9.0 in December. Each will introduce a new League, along with new skills, quality of life improvements, and much more. The 4.0.0 mega-expansion is out in 2020, though it may not be within the first part of the year. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime, Exiles.

The tweet pointed out that the first announcement of a delay to February was only an estimate, so one could say the new release window isn’t technically a delay since no specific date was given. Still, the semantics of the announcement might not matter much to PlayStation 4 players who now have to wait another month to possibly see the game seeing how no exact release date was given this time either. Grinding Gear's wording from the first delay can be found below and listed only early February as a release window.

In the PS4's case, the situation is a bit trickier. Path of Exile was supposed to launch on PS4 back in December, with the release of the currently active Betrayal league, but ended up being delayed to early February. Expect to learn how to structure releases into seasons with predictable release dates and scope, how to re-use content for rapid development, how to use procedural generation to keep content from feeling stale, how to employ multiple overlapping axes of randomness for additional replayability, how to design deep gameplay systems that keep players engaged and most importantly how to grow your community over a long period of time.

With the amount of new content Grinding Gear Games constantly add to Path of Exile, it is no wonder a release gets delayed from time to time. While the situation is not ideal for PlayStation 4 owners, it is still way better than paying a full AAA price for a shooter game and then wait a few months until its battle royale gets released. When we announced Path of Exile for PlayStation 4 earlier this month, we indicated we were aiming for a December release, Grinding Gear said. Unfortunately, we have had to revise this to early February. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this causes, because we know there are many players looking forward to this release.

While early February has almost passed, and no further details have since been given in regards to the PS4 launch, the developer said that mid-March is a likely release window for Path of Exile's upcoming expansion on Sony's console. The PlayStation Store also lists Path of Exile as a February release.
